Founded in 2019, the Hickey-Shanafelt 9ollective is a contemporary jazz nonet dedicated to the performance and development of the modern jazz repertoire. Based in Indianapolis, the group is composed of established, local professionals and young, up-and-coming musicians who share a passion for connecting with our community through music. The band is primarily an outlet for emerging and professional composers, arrangers, and performers, and is dedicated to programming both original music and fresh arrangements of familiar standards. The Kaleidoscope Suite is a collaboration with visual artist Kelsey Behl. She will be actively painting throughout the work with each movement corresponding to different palettes. The program will also feature a few of the group’s original tunes and arrangements.
